Colophospermum mopane, commonly called mopane, is a tree that grows in hot and dry areas. Given the fact that most parts of our country are hot and dry, it is found almost everywhere throughout South Africa but found in big quantities in the Northern parts. This is among the hardest of all hard firewood. With that hardness, comes the fact that it makes one of the strongest and long lasting charcoals that you can get for your pizza and braai.
